Vacationing in 'The Best Place to Live Outside the UK'
In March this year, Nevis was the only island in the Caribbean on the Sunday Times list of the best places to live outside of the UK because it was "one of the last ‘authentic’ islands in the West Indies with deserted beaches, nestling leatherback turtles and wild donkeys and goats roaming the lanes" and it provided "arty and laid-back living in the sun".
Though we can't agree that Nevis is the last island in the region providing an authentic Caribbean experience, we can confirm that the sister island to St. Kitts is definitely the ideal location for laid back living in the tropics and a great choice for any traveller or prospective re-locators.
Here are our Top 4 Reasons for Traveling to Nevis
#1: A Rich History
Nevis is known as being the birthplace for Alexander Hamilton, one of the founding father of the United States, and is one of the major territories of Britain before independence in 1983. Once there you can visit the museum dedicating to this champion of U.S. independence, visit the historical sites echoing the legacy of British rule or see the very first hotel opened in the Caribbean.

#2: Unspoilt natural environment
Though developing as a destination, Nevis has maintained a lot of its natural scenery. Even its most luxurious accommodations are surrounded by lush vegetation that keeps the sunny island cool and provides the relaxing feeling of living amongst nature but with the comforts of civilization. Not to worry though. There is the occasional free roaming animal to remind you that, though you may be in a three star resort, secluded villa or settling in to a new house in the Nevis countryside, you are not in the big city anymore.
Hikes are regularly conducted up the slopes of Nevis Peak for the nature travellers who really want to get in touch with their surroundings. There are also various locally owned rental agencies for adventurous visitors who would like to explore on their own.

#3: Fresh seafood and Mouth-watering Cuisine
The island is noted for the availability of fresh lobster and seafood prepared Nevisian style but that is not the only treat for your tastebuds. If you've never tasted true Caribbean cooking, Nevis is one of those islands that would be poised to 'knock your socks off'. No big explanation needed; just an empty stomach and a ready palate.

#4: Plenty of Things to Do; Not A lot of Fuss
One of the major complaints about living in a big city would be the constant hustle and bustle of the people as well as all the noise and intrusion that comes with it. Nevis manages to have quite a bit of activity going on in the island without the hullabaloo of large towns.
Mostly, the water sports would be where its at and the beach is never too far away to take a cool dip but there is also a lot available for nature lovers, foodies, water sports enthusiasts and some nightlife for those Friday nights when you just want to dance!
